F D Campbell Memorial Library lending policy

1.  The number of books borrowed by one member will be limited to thirty.

2.  Three new or currently in demand books may be borrowed by one member.  This can be overridden at the discretion of the library director.

3.  New editions and those currently in demand may have only one three week renewal.

4.  Current month magazines will remain in the library, or until the next month’s issue is received.  If no one is waiting to read an issue, the magazine can circulate at the discretion of the library director.

5.  A limit of five magazines with a lending period of three weeks may be borrowed.  Renewal is permitted.  More than 5 magazines can be borrowed at one time with approval of the library director.

6.  Phone call renewals are acceptable, unless a problem is created.

7.  Overdue fines charged are ten cents per day for all items,  excluding Tuesday and Sunday and days that F D Campbell Memorial Library is closed.

8.  A limit of $1.00 in fines must be paid before a member may continue to borrow books.

9.  A postcard will be sent to each member listing all books overdue at least every month by the librarian.

10.  Circulating reference material may be borrowed for a one week lending period, with renewal, as long as there is no other member in need for the reference material.

11.  Reserve books may be borrowed for the regular three week lending period when the book is no longer needed for revolving reserve status.  The lending period for reserve material is three to seven days at the discretion of the library director, but if another member doesn’t need the reserved material, the book can be borrowed longer or renewed at the discretion of the library director.  The member must check in with the librarian to see if the material is in demand.

12.  All overdue books borrowed from ILL will be assessed a fine of ten cents per day per item excluding Tuesday and Sunday and days F D Campbell Memorial Library is closed due to holiday or other necessity.

13.  Following the second notice of overdue materials, a third notice will be sent.  Then a form letter warning that legal action will be taken will be sent using return receipt service.

14.  If lost materials or monetary compensation for those materials are not brought to the library, a theft of leased property charge will brought to the District Justice Office.     A form will be sent stating the schedule for a hearing date set up by the District Justice.  Both the librarian and member must appear before the judge to drop or finish the proceedings.

15.  A child who is a resident of Lawrence County and who is first joining F D Campbell Memorial Library and who is not with a parent or guardian, must have their responsible adult sign the application card before any books can be taken out by that child.  This assures the librarian that the adult knows that the child has joined F D Campbell Memorial Library and will be taking materials out and the adult accepts responsibility for the materials.  It is assumed that the signature is by the adult responsible for the child.

16.  F D Campbell Memorial Library materials checked out may be returned to any other Lawrence County Federated Library System library or may also be returned to any participating Access PA (state-wide card program) library.  Also materials from a library participating in PA Access can be returned to F D Campbell Memorial Library and this library will return the materials to the home library.
