Rules of Computer Use

 

1.  No chat room use or instant messaging.

2.  The librarian starts up and shuts down the computers.

3.  Please sign in and out on the computer use sheet when using the computers.  Either your name or your library membership number may be used.

4.  Homework and other research and computer use related to occupations take precedent.  Since e-mail has become a necessary means of communication, it takes second precedent.  Recreational use of the Internet will be permitted as computers become free.

5.  Members are allowed 45 minutes at a time on the computers.   If during this period the member is required to give up the computer to another member with a more important use, the member will be given the remaining time, when the computer becomes free.   The librarian reserves the right to waive the time restrictions at her discretion. 

6.  If a diskette is brought from outside the library, it must be verified as virus free.

7.  Do not download or install programs unless permitted by the librarian.

8.  Do not change settings or anything on the computers.  These are not personal computers.  They are here for the use of all.

9.  If something goes wrong with the computer or a message is displayed, please alert the librarian.  She will deal with the problem. 

10.  Printing costs are fifteen cents per page and a diskette bought from the library is seventy- five cents.
